Bonjour.
Bine ai venit. I’m so glad you’re here!
I’m Anca. I’m a Creative Language Specialist based in Paris, France. In other words, I transformed my love of languages and relentless curiosity for the new into a freelancing business centered around writing and translation.
I have worked on projects as exciting and diverse as researching a French banker from the 18th century to translating poetry and song lyrics to writing website copy for B2B businesses and blog posts on various topics such as fashion, IT, or children’s rights to scriptwriting for edutainment videos and social media video content creators.
My vast experience helps me make new and original connections, no matter the project. Each new topic I research and write about and every text I translate opens a new door, informing the next task I undertake and so on.
I believe one field nurtures the other, so I am always eager to jump on a new linguistic adventure.
It’s 11:12 pm as I write these words. I’m curled up with a blanket in the armchair, the vintage blue lamp casting a warm light on my laptop. The city is quiet. It’s just me and my thoughts. This is my favorite place and time to write, especially something as personal as a bio.
Languages and storytelling have been an essential part of my life since I was a child in 90s Romania. After years of formal learning (from private tutoring to a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in French) and (lots of) self-education, I became proficient in English and French. So when I started freelancing, I knew this was the career path I had to follow.
Language is powerful, whether in content writing, creative translations, or legal translations. I’m here to share my multi-faceted knowledge and love of English, French, and Romanian with you and help you realize your vision with the right words.
Curious as a cat, I spend my time self-educating and reading anything from René Girard, Jean Baudrillard, Irvin Yalom, and Jean-Paul Sartre to Daphne du Maurier, Charlotte Brontë, Margaret Atwood, Toni Morrison, and Joan Didion to Emile Zola, Honoré de Balzac, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Mircea Eliade, and Ionel Teodoreanu to The Copy Book, Manuel de Survie à la Mode, The Food Lab, and Vogue magazine to funny memes and many, many more.
I’m currently learning Swedish, meditating with Headspace, and exploring photography and Canva.
I also knit.
